The Hong Kong model’s mother-in-law was charged after her body parts were found

The body parts of a Hong Kong model were found in a refrigerator and the model’s ex-mother-in-law has been charged with murder over what is believed to be a skull in a pot.

HONG KONG — Police in Hong Kong have charged the ex-mother-in-law of a model and influencer with murder.

Hong Kong model Abby Choi’s ex-father-in-law and her eldest son have been charged with murder, while her ex-mother-in-law faces a charge of perverting the course of justice, police said in a statement on Sunday.

Officers also arrested the woman’s ex-husband on Saturday and will charge him with murder Sunday night, Superintendent Alan Chung said. All four will appear in court on Monday.

At a news conference Sunday, Chung said authorities found the skull of a young woman believed to be Choi’s in one of the cookware they seized, along with several ribs, hair and human remains. In another bin, forensic pathologists also found a small number of human bones, he added.

“There is a hole in the back of the right side of the skull, so the pathologist believes it must have been a fatal attack on the victim,” he said.

Chung said Choi was believed to have been hit by a car and passed out when she got home. Police are still trying to determine the time of death and identify his hands and torso.

On Sunday, police also arrested another woman, who they believe is the ex-husband’s father’s mistress for allegedly helping other suspects. Chung said she rented the house with her father and another place to hide her ex-husband.

Choi, 28, has had financial disputes with her ex-husband and his family involving tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars, with Chung previously saying “some people” were unhappy with how Choi handled her financial assets.

Choi is a model and influencer who shares her glamorous photo shoots and fashion shows with over 100,000 followers. She wore a tulle floor-length gown at the Dior show at Paris Fashion Week.

Her last post was a week ago, featuring her photoshoot with fashion publication L’Officiel Monaco.
