A tropical depression is expected to develop over the Atlantic and become Cindy
Thursday morning, a tropical depression formed over the Atlantic Ocean. Tropical Depression 4 was located about 1,395 miles east of the Lesser Antilles and had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. The system moved west at 12 mph. WESH 2 Meteorologist Kellyanne Glass said it is expected to become Tropical Storm Cindy late Thursday or Friday. WESH 2 meteorologist Kellyanne Glass said it is expected to become a tropical storm, Cindy, late Thursday or Friday. The storm is expected to turn northwesterly in the next few days.
“On the forecast track, this low pressure area is expected to remain east of the northern Leeward Islands through the weekend,” the National Hurricane Center said. “Some strengthening is forecast over the next few days, and this depression is expected to become a tropical storm within a day or so.”
