Pat Sajak on ‘Wheel of Fortune’

Pat Sajak hosted his final episode Wheel of Fortune On Friday, he took time to thank viewers of the enduringly popular game show he’s hosted for more than 40 years.
“It’s time to say goodbye,” Sajak said in the episode. “I have a few thanks and acknowledgments before I go, and I’d like to start by seeing you all there. It’s an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade. I’ve always felt a responsibility to keep this daily half-hour a safe space for family entertainment — social No problems, no politics, nothing embarrassing, just a game I believe.”
Sajak, 77, announced his retirement as host a year ago Wheel of Fortune. Ryan Seacrest will take over as host of the syndicated game show beginning in the 2024-25 season; He will be joined by Sajak’s longtime co-host, Vanna White, who will remain with the show for the time being.

Sajak originally presented the NBC daytime edition Wheel of Fortune in 1981, and White joined the show a year later. They became anchors of the daily syndicated edition Wheel In 1983, the show remained one of the most popular game shows in syndication throughout their tenure. Sajak won three Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Game Show Host and received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the awards in 2011.
