Biden’s speech headlines the DNC Day 1 schedule. Check out today’s full agenda.

Washington – The Democratic National Convention It begins Monday in Chicago, where Vice President Kamala Harris is set to officially rally about her new presidential ticket. He became the candidate of the Democratic Party Earlier this month.

Mr. Biden will address the conference Monday evening.

A majority of Democratic representatives Voted to elect Harris As the party’s nominee earlier this month, he confirmed his position on the ticket during a virtual roll call vote ahead of the convention. DNC leaders certified Harris as the nominee, along with his running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walls.

“Now the eyes of the world turn to Chicago, where our delegates will celebrate this historic ticket with a ceremonial roll call and tell the story of Vice President Harris, Governor Walls and the Democratic Party as they prepare to defeat Donald Trump again,” convention chair Minyon Moore said in a statement when the nominations were certified.

On the newly formed Democratic ticket, Harris and Walls are expected to continue their introduction to the party at the convention, with the election less than three months away. Along with speeches from big names in the party, Walls will officially accept the vice presidential nomination Wednesday night, and Harris will take the stage on Thursday’s final night of the convention to formally accept the presidential nomination.

What’s on the agenda?

Each day of the conference features a theme related to the slogan “For the people, for our future”. Monday’s theme focused on the “for the people” element, where they argued how Democrats have put people first under the Biden-Harris administration, while comparing the record and the Harris-Wallis ticket to that of former President Donald Trump.

Mr. Biden’s tenure and decades in Washington are expected to feature prominently Monday, as the party seeks to honor the president — and his decision to step aside — while celebrating its new standard.

Mr. Trump left the White House last month to join the main super PAC backing Harris Anita Dunn, a former senior adviser to Biden, said she sees her role as a “volunteer-leader” in the presidential campaign and is determined to confirm Trump. Defeated in November.

“Where we are today is a united party that is excited, excited, looking forward, but recognizes that this is a very tough competition and we have to go out and do the job and win,” he said. An interview with “CBS Mornings” before the convention began Monday.

Conference sessions will be held on Mondays from 6:15pm to 11pm CT or from 5:15pm to 10pm CT. A formal roll call vote is set to begin Tuesday, when delegates from across the country will gather to nominate Harris.

Although the official schedule has not yet been released, conference officials have confirmed a handful of speakers who will be available to kick off the first day of the conference.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson will address Monday night’s convention, along with First Lady Jill Biden and Mr. Biden will deliver the keynote address on the first night.
