We have some news from last night. We now know that hockey head coach Kirk Ferentz will be suspended for the team’s season opener. The New York Times reports that FERENTZ violated NCAA rules regarding recruiting for starting quarterback Kate MCNAMARA. MCNAMARA joined Iowa from the transfer portal in 2022. After spending four seasons at Michigan. Now, it’s still unclear this morning whether the punishment was handed down by the NCAA or the university. Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz and wide receivers coach John Budmeyer will be suspended for one game, according to a report from The Athletic. Scott Doctorman reports that Ferentz and Budmeyer committed a recruiting violation during the recruitment of quarterback Kate McNamara. The penalty was imposed by the NCAA or the university.
