LA County Public Health warns of measles-infected traveler visiting local attractions, including Universal Studios and the Santa Monica Pier

Los Angeles County health officials on Saturday issued an exposure alert about an unidentified traveler with measles who traveled to locations in the county between March 30 and April 1.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said it received notification of the disease carrier from the California Department of Public Health. He traveled to nearly a dozen locations over those three days, mostly at Universal City and the Sheraton Hotel on West Century Boulevard near LA International Airport.

Health officials said the individual took Universal's trolley and several rides, visited the Sheraton's gym and local restaurants. The Complete list Linked here.

Other potential exposure sites are still under investigation.

Health officials said anyone traveling to affected areas on certain days should ensure they are vaccinated against measles.

Los Angeles County Health Officer Mundu Davis said in a news release, “Measles is spread through the air and through direct contact. Not getting rid of it.”

Symptoms appear within three weeks after exposure.
