ARLINGTON, Texas — Detroit Lions star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson scored a touchdown early in the third quarter of a 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys in a dramatic display at AT&T Stadium.
Hutchinson injured his left leg on a play sacking Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. While Hutchinson was pulling Prescott down, Hutchinson’s leg appeared to snap above the ankle when he collided with teammate Alim McNeil’s left leg.
Hutchinson’s leg was placed in an air cast and left in the carriage. The Lions said after the game that Hutchinson fractured his tibia. Hutchinson will remain in Dallas, and the team will learn more about the extent of the injury on Monday, coach Don Campbell said.
Members of the Lions and Cowboys quickly gathered around Hutchinson, and team medics rushed to his side. He finished the game with three tackles, including a sack, against Dallas.
Hutchinson, the second pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, was ruled out early with a lower leg injury.
His 7.5 sacks this season are the most by a Lions player in five games since 1983 (William Gay), according to ESPN Research. Entering Week 6, Hutchinson led the NFL in sacks, pressures and pass rush success rate, although the Lions were coming off their bye week.
