Curry and Thompson, along with star forward Draymond Green, helped establish the most successful dynasty of the current era, leading the Warriors to four NBA championships in eight years from 2015 to 2022. His season average of 17.9 points per game was the first time since the 2013-14 campaign that he averaged under 20 points in his third season in the NBA.
Despite Thompson’s struggles throughout the year, Curry made it clear that he hopes their partnership will continue.
“I can’t see myself without those two guys,” Curry said said of Thompson and Greene After Golden State’s play-in loss to the Sacramento Kings. “I understand these league changes, there are a lot of things that we’re not always going to play. Now, Curry must move forward with a new-look Warriors team. Golden State hopes to replace Thompson’s production by adding talent around him and helping the team return to playoff contention next season.
