Taylor Swift explores heartbeat on Tortured Poets Department album

Taylor Swift takes fans on a journey through the stages of grief and heartbreak on her new album Department of Tortured PoetsPublished on Friday.

The singer-songwriter released a 16-track album. Two tracks feature collaborations with Post Malone and Florence + The Machine. There are also four bonus tracks, “The Manuscript,” “The Boulder,” “The Albatross” and “The Black Dog,” which are featured on different vinyl versions of the album.

On Instagram, Swift called the album “a collection of new works that reflect the events, ideas and feelings from a fleeting and fatal moment — one that was exciting and tragic in equal measure.”

“This period of the author's life is now over, and the chapter is closed and boarded up,” he continued. “There is nothing to avenge, no scars to settle once the wounds have healed. A few weeks before the album's release, the singer offered more insight into the album, which fans speculated was about her breakup with ex-boyfriend actor Joe Alvin. Swift teased the album's first lyrics ahead of a total solar eclipse on April 8 when she posted a video of herself on a typewriter typing, “Crowd on her fingertips/Half moonshine, total eclipse.”

Swift's music returned to TikTok months after being pulled as part of a dispute between the social video platform and Universal Music Group, which distributes Swift's music, ahead of the album's release.
